I don’t really know.” On April 10, 1970, in The Daily Mirror, Paul McCartney made the Beatles’ secret breakup public by issuing a press release to announce that he had left the group, done in the form of a fake interview: “Q: Is your break with the Beatles temporary or permanent, due to personal differences or musical ones? PAUL: Personal differences, business differences, musical differences, but most of all because I have a better time with my family. The other three, resigned to the group’s collapse, said that they would keep the break-up out of the news. In September 1969, John Lennon told the others he was leaving. Beatles Officially Legally End Lennon Leaves Like Starr, Harrison returned (January 15), but had he made it clear that he would leave the group unless the idea of a live show before an audience was dropped. John Lennon reportedly said that the group should call Eric Clapton, saying, “He’s just as good and not such a headache.” On JanuHarrison walked out, unable to tolerate any longer the tensions within the group and the other’s talk about playing a live show. Of course, a solo album does not mean a break up, but frustration does. Harrison had frequently felt like the Beatles’ third wheel because most of his offered songs were dismissed in favor of the so-called Lennon/McCartney tunes. George Harrison was the first in November 1968 with his Wonderwall Music soundtrack. They had also begun working on solo projects before 1970 ended. Beatles Officially Legally End Solo Projects He went on vacation to Sardinia, wrote “Octopus Garden,” and with the encouragement of John, Paul, and George, returned on September 3. 5/7/2023 0 Comments Topaz clarity vs detail![]() What did Blake just say Non-HDR (call the Photo Po-Po). In this video tutorial I want to elaborate on the Actions in the Actions Package as well as show off the true power of Clarity on a Non-HDR image. I didn’t want to do that, because they have so many products that are just awesome! To clarify (no pun intended) I am not regulated by anyone when I do these Webinars to spend time in various programs, I could very well have spent the whole webinar in Clarity. I showed a pretty cool technique for easy editing in Topaz Software, but I did not spend nearly enough time in Clarity as I would have liked. In any event, I really wanted to stress Topaz Clarity more during the webinar. It turns out that I may be moving too fast! Someone said I needed to lay off the coffee, haha, I don’t drink coffee! ![]() I already assume that the viewers have an understanding of Photoshop and the Topaz software. I don’t do this because I want to confuse people, I do it because I want there to be as much information as possible in one Webinar. I tend to cram a lot of information into one session. For photographers not familiar with Topaz Labs, Topaz Clarity and Topaz Detail were separate standalone software and plugins that needed to be purchased individually.I love doing Webinars with Topaz Labs, they really are the highlight of my month in many cases. Maybe there’s going to be an update to Adjust AI around the corner? Who knows.Ī bonus of the software is it now includes Topaz Clarity and Topaz Detail (also known as Precision Detail) in the control panel giving more editing capability without downloading more Topaz Labs software. They have made recent updates to their other software like Mask AI and DeNoise AI. I’m not sure if they are going to improve the software or come out with new features. I checked the release notes, and they fixed output with grid artifacts on the Jupdates.Īs of writing this review update on June 9, 2020, Topaz Labs has not made any updates to Topaz Adjust AI since August 2, 2019. I rechecked several photos including the example photos in this summary and Topaz Adjust AI no longer produces these streaks. You can see a few white streaks in the above photo in the sky. I also noticed streaks in several of my photos while using the software. For more detailed information on colored gemstone clarity, read this article. However, the main culprit seems to be the detail adjustments, and in some instances, cause dark halos around clouds. Question:In the IGS Gem Price Guide, you have letters like VVS, VS. I’m going to jump the gun and say I wasn’t initially impressed with the software because it was producing horrible overcooked images. This can be corrected by reducing the overall strength or opacity of the adjustments. The Topaz Adjust AI control panel is accessed via the controls button at the top-right corner. The panel also has automatic AI settings if you want the software to do the full edit: standard and HDR. The control panel includes basic adjustments such as brightness, color, split tone, and grain. The initial interface when you open Topaz Adjust as a plugin through Lightroom or Photoshop. This effectively accentuates detail and sharpens images without artifacts or haloing. I prefer the previous interface of Topaz Adjust 5 where the presets are on the left and the control panel is on the right. Topaz Labs have introduced a brilliant set of Photoshop-friendly. You have to click a separate button to see the control panel to make manual adjustments. Many people consider the Topaz Clarity, Detail, Focus and Denoise plugins to give superior results to the Lightroom/Photoshop (and the Luminar and OnOne) options for these tasks. The software initially displays the original image with presets on the right. Even if you still end up with Lightroom (or an alternative Raw processor or/and DAM), Topaz Studio with a few plugins could still be useful. You access Adjust AI through Photoshop via the filter menu or through Lightroom’s Develop Module → photo → edit in. ![]() ![]() The software can be used as a standalone application or as a plugin through Photoshop, Lightroom, or Topaz Studio. What I intend to show, however, is that the notion the prudent man subjects everything he does to the inclinations of his appetites (even if those appetites have been purified by the presence of grace) is not consonant with St. One might think of certain New Natural Law theorists who think that prior to choice, there is no morally significant order of goods to be pursued (because such goods are incommensurable) or of the moral motivation theorists such as Keenan who maintain that "strivings" of the will are "antecedent to questions of intention and choice." One of the reasons their theories are sometimes considered consistent with Aquinas is that he says the moral virtues, which are present in the appetitive part of the soul, provide the ends to prudence, which uses those ends as the beginning of its deliberation. There is, on this account, reasoning about means but little to no reasoning about ends themselves. Some renowned theologians have argued that the knowledge the virtuous man has regarding the ends he pursues comes about merely by inclination. Given that the moral virtues are located in the appetites (either in the rational appetite known as the will or in the sensitive appetite), the question that arises is whether the end these virtues point an individual towards are antecedently cognized in virtue of some other habit or power or whether, on the contrary, they are responsible for all virtuous action independent of the intellect. Recently a high resolution P travel time tomographic study ( 15) imaged the high velocity Indian lithosphere in western Tibet below the entire plateau down to 300–400 km depth. Most surface wave studies revealed a thick lithosphere beneath much of the plateau ( 7– 12), whereas body wave tomography observed the subducted Indian mantle lithosphere characterized by high wavespeed, in contrast to the Asian mantle lithosphere ( 13– 15). GPS and seismic anisotropy ( 6) indicate extrusion also of the deep Tibetan lithosphere to the east and southeast. Global positioning systems (GPS) measurements have shown that at present an eastward motion dominates the surface deformation of northern and eastern Tibet ( 5). A fundamental question is whether the postcollision convergence of India and Asia, estimated at > 2,000 km ( 3, 4), was accommodated by homogeneous thickening or plate subduction ( 2). However, the mode of deformation of the mantle lithospheres ( 2) remained largely unknown. It has long been recognised that the Tibetan plateau was created by the collision of the northward moving Indian plate and the relatively stationary Asian plate, which began about 50 million yr ago ( 1). A particular lithospheric region was formed in northern and eastern Tibet as a crush zone between the two colliding plates, the existence of which is marked by high temperature, low mantle seismic wavespeed (correlating with late arriving signals from the 410 discontinuity), poor Sn propagation, east and southeast oriented global positioning system displacements, and strikingly larger seismic (SKS) anisotropy. From eastern Himalayan syntaxis to the western edge of the Tarim Basin, the Indian lithosphere is underthrusting Tibet at an increasingly shallower angle and reaching progressively further to the north. The LAB of the Indian and Asian plates is well-imaged by several profiles and suggests a changing mode of India-Asia collision in the east-west direction. We herein present observations of seismic discontinuities with the P and S receiver function techniques beneath central and western Tibet along two new profiles and discuss the results in connection with results from earlier profiles, which did observe the LAB. The fate of the colliding Indian and Asian tectonic plates below the Tibetan high plateau may be visualized by, in addition to seismic tomography, mapping the deep seismic discontinuities, like the crust-mantle boundary (Moho), the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary (LAB), or the discontinuities at 410 and 660 km depth. ![]() ![]() Yet, in a simpler sense, it’s not so unrealistic, because even if it will happen more gradually than laid out here, we will indeed run out of oil. The scenario is unreal, of course, because we could never shut off our oil supply in a day, and in any case, there are trillions of barrels of the stuff still in the ground, right? Taken to its logical conclusion, it encompasses so much more: a complete and rapid breakdown of society, leading to desperation, lawlessness, wars and untold suffering. It’s an interesting thought experiment to picture a world suddenly without oil. Fishing might work, so you’d need to get a new rod while supplies last. That said, make sure to keep the food coming, fresh and fast, because it’s going to be awfully difficult to refrigerate. Local farmers would become a necessity, not just people who sell us honey at the street fair. The list of essentials that we’d soon be doing without is prodigious: virtually all plastics, paints, medicines, hospital machines that go “bleep,” Barbie dolls, ballpoint pens, breast implants, golf balls ….Įating would get tougher, too. It gets much worse still, of course, because a world without oil would quickly become a world without all of the products made from petroleum that we have come to know, love and depend upon. Can we quickly put together some solar panels and batteries? A wind turbine? What do we have growing in the back yard that can burn? Environmentalists have been nudging us to insulate our homes and generate electricity from renewable resources for a while now this might be the time to start paying attention. Heating and cooling our homes would suddenly get a lot more complicated, and our televisions and laptops would be just a few more weeks away from shutting off forever.įorget even trying to get to work anymore we now have another set of problems to solve, especially if it’s winter and our houses are getting cold. Sure, our electricity is generated mostly from coal, but how would the coal be extracted without those diesel-guzzling yellow trucks? How would it be hauled to the power plants? (Remember, our trains all run on diesel, too). And this would be possible, for the first month or so, because only 1 percent of America’s electricity is generated from oil – coal carries the largest burden, along with natural gas, nuclear and hydroelectric power.īut brownouts and blackouts would soon begin. Our enslavement to black gold goes much further than the problem of getting from Point A to Point B. But we’d be waiting for some time to secure adequate natural gas supplies, establish delivery infrastructure and switch over our cars. Soon, we’d all be looking for an electric car (but there are precious few of those for sale) or converting our vehicles to run on natural gas. How far is it to the nearest grocery store? How long does it take to walk – or bike, or skate – to work? Finally confronting our dependence on motor vehicles, we’d reach for whatever solutions we could find. Within a month, every fuel tank would be dry, all our gauge needles would point to “E,” and the roads, rails and skies would be virtually empty. A strategic reserve of finished petroleum products – gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel – has often been suggested but never created. The lines wouldn’t last, though, because the gasoline would soon be gone. Price-gouging would begin right away, and long lines would form at gas stations. With the overwhelming majority of the oil we produce and import devoted to powering our cars, motorcycles, trucks, trains and planes, the impact on getting around would be most dramatic. ![]() What would happen next? How would we live in a world without oil?įirst, there’s transportation. ![]() And lock up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve while you’re at it - it has only about a month or so worth of oil in it, anyway. (A year after the BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico, let’s hope we’ve learned how to do that, at least.) Tow the platforms back to shore. Pull out the drills and cement up the wells. Radio the tankers and order them back to port. Dismantle the oil rigs and stack them in a pile. ![]() 5/7/2023 0 Comments Smalland kickstarter![]() The two brothers quickly found themselves operating far outside of their comfort zone, trying to build games that they seldom played, let alone understood.
